(App: CPianoS)

Last updated:

These Terms of Service (hereinafter "Terms") set forth the conditions of use for the mobile application CPianoS (hereinafter "App") provided by the CPianoS operator (hereinafter "Provider"). By downloading or using the App, users are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 1 (Terms of Use)

The App is provided on an AS IS basis. The Provider makes no warranties of any kind regarding the accuracy, completeness, usefulness, or fitness for a particular purpose of the App.

Article 2 (Sheet Music Recognition Results)

The App recognizes images of sheet music captured or selected by the user on the device and converts them into data such as notes. Recognition results may contain errors. Although users can review and correct recognition results within the App, the Provider does not guarantee the accuracy of recognition results, displayed note names, read-aloud audio, or playback.

Article 3 (Copyright of Sheet Music)

Users shall handle any sheet music they import into the App at their own responsibility so as not to infringe copyrights or other rights. Sheet music imported into the App and its recognition results are handled only on the user's device. The Provider assumes no responsibility for any issues arising from users using or sharing sheet music or related data outside the App.

Article 4 (Intellectual Property Rights)

All copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights relating to the App and all content associated with it (including programs, designs, logos, and sheet music recognition models) belong to the Provider or to third parties who hold legitimate rights thereto. Users may not reproduce, modify, adapt, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or distribute the App in whole or in part without the prior permission of the Provider.

Licenses for third-party software, sound sources, and data used in the App are listed in the App under "Settings" → "Licenses & Credits".

Article 5 (Prohibited Acts)

Users must not engage in any of the following acts when using the App:

  • Acts that violate laws or public order and morals
  • Acts that infringe the copyrights or other rights of third parties
  • Acts that interfere with the operation of the App
  • Unauthorized access or unauthorized use
  • Intentional exploitation of bugs or defects in the App
  • Any act deemed inappropriate by the Provider

Article 6 (Device and Data Management)

Users are responsible for appropriately managing their own devices and access to the App. App data (including imported sheet music, practice records, and settings) is stored on the user's device and is not retained by the Provider. If data is lost due to deletion of the App, device failure, loss of the device, or similar causes, the Provider cannot restore it.

The Provider assumes no responsibility for cases where the App does not function properly or where security issues arise as a result of device modification (such as jailbreaking).

Article 7 (Changes to and Termination of Service)

The Provider may change, add to, or discontinue the App without prior notice to users. In the event that provision of the App is terminated, users shall cease using the App and delete it from their devices as necessary.

Article 8 (Fees)

The App is provided free of charge and currently contains no in-app purchases or advertisements.

The Provider may add paid features (in-app purchases or subscriptions) or advertisements in the future. In that case, the Provider will revise these Terms before adding them and will clearly state the conditions, including pricing, automatic renewal, cancellation methods, and refunds. All billing and payment processing for in-app purchases is handled by Apple, and the Provider does not collect or store payment information.

Article 9 (Disclaimer)

Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the Provider, the Provider shall bear no liability for any damages arising from the use of or inability to use the App. Furthermore, the Provider shall not be responsible for any disputes arising between users and third parties in connection with the use of the App.

Article 10 (Changes to Terms)

The Provider may modify these Terms as necessary. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the last updated date and effective date will be updated accordingly. Continued use of the App following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Article 11 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the district court having jurisdiction over the Provider's location as the court of first instance.

Article 12 (Effective Date)

These Terms are effective as of October 4, 2026.
